Question 10

29 July 2007

From Mr R Stoklosinski

How can you expect the public to take seriously what you are saying and believe you after misleading the public by failing to keep your election promises to revoke the planning permission for the Colnbrook incinerators, or is this another example of pre-election promises by the BILLD being useless and of no practical value?

Reply Councillor Richard Stokes

As part of our 2004 election campaign, our coalition promised to investigate whether or not it was possible to revoke planning permission for the Electricity from Waste (EfW) facility at Colnbrook. Following our election victory we promptly fulfilled our promise, and were advised that revocation of planning permission for this facility was not possible without leaving Slough Borough Council vulnerable to massive financial liability.
