The Haymill site is the next site on the list to be sold for residential development. Can you guarantee that these will not be flats?
As I am sure you are aware, the Haymill Centre site is not in my portfolio - being within the Community & Cultural Services Directorate and another Commissioner's remit. Nor am I the senior Haymill Ward Councillor - that privilege falls to Councillor Stokes.
Therefore, I assume that your only reason for directing the distorted question to me is that I am up for re-election in just over a week's time. It is a great shame that you play political games and seek to distract me from dealing with the many issues, including Haymill Centre, which concern the community that I serve, or my re-election efforts.
However, I will endeavour to answer your question.
This Administration has made no secret of the probable need to dispose of a part of the Haymill site for housing so as to help fund a new Community and Sports Centre, plus much improved accommodation for the Haybrook College. The redevelopment will bring immense benefit to the local community and Education through modern, fit for use, buildings rather than the old and unfit ones that were inherited from Berkshire County Council and suffered a lack of investment under Labour.
Perhaps you would define the 'list' you refer to or show me a copy. As you know very well, this Administration will not sell the site but only the smallest part that it needs to for facilitating the redevelopment. Other members of this community are well aware of the former Labour Council's attempts to divest itself of the whole site and constant rumour that Labour wanted to sell all of it for housing development.
Precise details and timing of any disposal will be dependent on finalising plans for the redevelopment and only as much as needed to enhance the rest of the site. It would be inappropriate to speculate on those matters at this point.
