Slough Councillors' Questions - 13 December 2005

Question 1

From:  Councillor Lydia Simmons

The catastrophe of 'faulty towers' as the newspapers now call Broom & Poplar house have caused tenants prolonged misery and inconvenience, as Housing Commissioner how are you going to compensate residents?
Reply: Councillor Tony Haines

The priority is to complete the works to residents' satisfaction as quickly as possible and we are therefore putting additional SBC project management in place including a Tenant Liaison Officer and Technical Officers to support tenants. We have already announced - at a residents' meeting on 24th November - that some form of compensation will be made. The amount and form of compensation is still under consideration. I would have liked to announce the details before Christmas, but this would be inadvisable until we know the total cost of the project.
