Slough Residents' Questions - 12 October 2004

Question 5

From:  Mr T Kelly, Barton Road, Langley

During the local election campaign in my area of Langley, Independent Langley Residents candidates made commitments that they would stop the incinerators proposed for Colnbrook, on the back of health concerns locally, were they elected to the Council.

The Council’s Constitution prevents me asking them questions directly, so I would like to ask you, Councillor Stokes, as their Group Leader, and as Leader of the Executive, what progress your joint BILLD-Tory administration has made on honouring those commitments?

Reply: Councillor Richard Stokes

I have always given a commitment that we would do everything we could to try to stop this incinerator from being built. We have done and are continuing to do that. Sadly, we are having to deal with bad decisions made by the old Labour administration.
