Slough Residents' Questions - 20 July 2004

Question 8

From:  Mr Jason Roser

Why has nothing been done to combat the use of Farnham Road, and the junction between Farnham Road and Sheffield Road by ‘boy racers’ in the early hours of the morning as their own private racetrack.

Reply: Councillor Sean Wright

This is the first indication that I have had to any problems in this area.

Excessive speed on public roads is only enforceable by Thames Valley Police. We have monthly meetings with their Traffic Management Unit and I will ensure this information is passed on.

In the case of anti-social behaviour i.e. joy riding etc the Police now have additional powers to deal with this problem via the new Police Reform Act 2002. This enables the police to seize cars being driven recklessly or in a manner that causes alarm, it maybe that this falls into this category.
