Slough Residents' Questions - 20 July 2004

Question 1

From:  Mr Chris Sliski

1. The matter of the Town's football club again has been threatened with extinction by the new ruling party wishing to cancel the previous project which had a future vision to help not only find a new home for our beloved club, but also the prospect of a vision for Britwell.

1) In fact if you read the Britwell Independents own pre election manifesto many of their requests would be fulfilled by this project, so why without the final feasibility study being made they wish to cancel this project?

2) And waste Taxpayers money by not allowing the feasibility study to run to its conclusion? and now being forced to pay compensation and killing off the football club all in one go ?

3) And what other alternatives are they going to offer the good people of Slough supporting everyone’s Team.

(For and behalf of the Slough Town Supporters Trust.)

Reply: Councillor Richard Stokes

I would like to thank Mr Sliski for his question, which is factually incorrect. For example, the Council has not cancelled the feasibility study, never had any intention of cancelling the feasibility study, and looks forward to the completion of the feasibility study. The Controlling Group organised a Public Meeting last night to consider alternatives. I advanced several options and the Cabinet would be pleased to consider any other options that Slough Town FC supporters would like to submit. The Cabinet would give careful and sympathetic consideration to any Business Plan submitted by the supporters of Slough Town Football Club.
