Slough Residents' Questions - 27 April 2004

Question 7

From:  A Britwell Resident

What is the councils policy on staff adequately identifying themselves by presenting the councils official id badge long enough to be satisfactory read and understood, and uttering their names loudly and clearly enough to be understood and explaining the purpose of their visit?

Reply: Councillor Lydia Simmons

Staff should clearly identify themselves and explain the purpose of their visit. As part of the Best Value Review of Customer Services, customer service policies and standards have been reviewed and will soon be issued for consultation as a Service Charter. This charter sets out the customer service standards that you can expect from Slough Borough Council. It includes standards of staff behaviour and it also sets out the standard of behaviour that we expect from customers towards our staff. We all share the responsibility to respect each other, be considerate and patient.
