As you have been told previously, most of the signs were removed over many years because they had become old or dangerous. They have been replaced with new signs at each gateway into the town, which welcome those driving into Slough and establish our boundaries. Being a member of the Nuclear Free Local Authorities Association is only a part of what this town and council is about and the new signs reflect our proud status as a thriving economic and cultural centre competing in the 21st century. We do not need anti-nuclear signs to re-affirm our anti-nuclear policy; that is an established position, the same as our commitment to providing our children the best start in life. The new signs, bus shelters, information kiosks, recycling bins etc are all part of a series of measures to modernise the facilities and image of our town. |
