(a) Why should any member of the public report non-working street lights which your contractor can't be bothered to repair after 4 months of non-operation? (b) Has the council any plans to reverse its decision to refuse to accept a weekly list of non-working street lights in Britwell? (a) We respond to reports by the public of street light faults on a regular basis, and the majority of these are repaired within five working days. Cable faults which are the responsibility of the Electricity Company . do take longer however without specific locations I would only be speculating as to why a street light is not working for 4 months. An example of why a street light could be out for months is when there are plans to re-light a street and then a column gets damaged. It would be a waste of money to replace that column only to have it removed a few months later when the new lighting scheme was implemented. (b) I don't know of any weekly list of outages in Britwell or indeed of any Council decision to refuse to accept one. Officers will be happy to accept a list of outages if locations are exact, i.e. column number or house address.
